Thomas Gastine's homepage
Welcome on my homepage. I'm a French CNRS researcher (CRCN), working in the Geological Fluid Dynamics
group at IPGP.
Research interests
- Geomagnetism: numerical models of the geodynamo
- Geophysical and astrophysical fluid dynamics: convection in (non)-rotating spherical shells, double diffusion
- Internal dynamics of planets: numerical modelling of zonal flows and dynamo actions in giants planets
- Icy moons: numerical modelling of the dynamics of the sub-surface oceans
- Stellar dynamos: magnetism of cool stars
Former group
I did my PhD in the Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics Group in Laboratoire
d'Astrophysique de Toulouse-Tarbes (now
Institut de Recherche en Astrophysique et Planétologie)
in Toulouse (France). I then moved to the
Max Planck Institut für Sonnensystemforschung in Göttingen (Germany) as a postdoctoral researcher.
