PhD Candidate at Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris
Born and raised in the East Bay of California, I completed my BSc in Mathematics with a minor in Physics at American University in Washington, DC in 2016. After finishing my M2 in geophysics as part of the International Master's Program at the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (IPGP), I received funding from the INSPIRE project to undertake a PhD at IPGP.
My PhD project focuses on using state-of-the-art remote sensing methods, in particular interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR), to increase our understanding of volcanic processes at remote, equatorial volcanoes. The volcanoes of interest include Ambrym, Ibu, and La Soufrière. During this project, I will use InSAR, complemented by other remote sensing and in-situ techniques, to measure deformation linked to magmatic eruptions, dome building events, and the pressurization of hydrothermal systems. The goal of this project is to synthesize this data with other measurements— degassing, thermal anomolies, seismicity, etc.— to accurately model the sub-surface processes driving surface deformation at these volcanoes.
